Aug. 16, 2022 (Anchorage, AK)--On Aug. 10, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Erin Marston sentenced 45-year-old Adam Sullivan to 75 years in prison for the killing of his wife, Brandy Sullivan.  

The evidence presented over the course of a five-week, non-jury trial showed that in the months leading up to the murder, Adam Sullivan separated from Brandy and moved into another house with his girlfriend. Despite living with a girlfriend, Adam Sullivan was jealous of Brandy’s actions. On Feb. 16, 2017, Adam Sullivan stalked Brandy to her home in Anchorage. He followed her inside and immediately began assaulting her, causing blunt force injuries to her head and arm. Adam Sullivan then shot Brandy once in the head and three times in the back. Moments later, he fled the home and planned an escape. He called both his girlfriend and brother and confessed to shooting and killing Brandy. Anchorage Police Department officers located Adam Sullivan that evening with the murder weapon still in his possession.

At sentencing, Judge Marston described the murder as a planned execution by a very dangerous person. He noted the murder was especially outrageous because Adam and Brandy Sullivan's two children were at the house at the time of the murder. He questioned how Adam Sullivan could leave his children, alone, at the house as they tried to save their dying mother. The Judge commented that this domestic violence was conduct that the community could not tolerate.

An Anchorage Superior Court judge today convicted Adam Sullivan, 45, of Anchorage of second-degree murder for the 2017 killing of his wife, Brandy Sullivan.

Judge Erin Marston rendered the guilty verdict following a five-week trial.

The judge found that the married couple separated in the months leading up to the murder and Adam Sullivan moved into another residence with his girlfriend. However, he was jealous of his wife’s actions. He followed her to her home in Anchorage on Feb. 16, 2017, and assaulted her, causing blunt force trauma to her head and arm, then shot her once in the head and three times in the back.

After the murder, Adam Sullivan called his girlfriend and his brother and admitted to the crime. He was located the night of the murder by officers with the Anchorage Police Department, and the gun was still in his possession.

Judge Marston determined that Adam Sullivan knowingly and intentionally caused the death of Brandy Sullivan during a trial held without a jury. He is currently jailed without bail pending a sentencing hearing on July 11.

Adam Sullivan faces a maximum sentence of 99 years imprisonment and a $500,000 fine.
