APD Investigating Two Sunday Night Shootings

Update on 8/14/23:

At 9:02 PM on August 13, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to Creekside Park at 7122 E 6th Avenue regarding a shooting.  Initial indications are that an adult female was walking in the area when she was shot one time in the upper body; the victim did not see the shooter.  She was transported to a hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening wound.

A search for the suspect was conducted until just after 2 AM utilizing both a K9 track team and the drone.  The suspect was not located.

At 11:37 PM, approximately 2 ½ hours after the first shooting report came in, Anchorage Police responded to the 700-block of Pine Street regarding an adult male who had been shot.  Initial indications are that the victim was walking on Pine Street when he was shot one time in the lower body; the victim did not see the shooter.  He was transported to a hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening wound.

No arrests have been made in either case. It is unknown if the shooting on E 6th Avenue is related to the shooting on Pine Street.  The K9 track was in progress when the second shooting was reported.

There is a large police presence around the area of Creekside Park (7122 E 6th Avenue) for an ongoing investigation.

There are no road closures currently. Please avoid the area. If you must be in the area, please follow officer instructions. Thank you for your cooperation.

Depending on the situation, our response may require using a variety of tactics and tools, to include the drone.
