Bobby Dupree Wanted in Shooting Investigation
Update on 8/28/23:
At 5:42 PM on August 25, 2023, APD officers assigned to the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) located 53-year-old Bobby R. Dupree in a business parking lot on the 600-block of E Northern Lights Avenue; Dupree was wanted on five felony warrants. Several ISU officers approached Dupree as he was mounting a 1982 black Kawasaki motorcycle. Dupree attempted to flee but was unable to do so as some officers went hands-on while another officer blocked the motorcycle in from the rear with a police vehicle.
Dupree was physically uncooperative, and he did not follow commands; he was escorted to the ground and handcuffed. During that process, the motorcycle fell over and scratched an unoccupied and parked 2009 white Saturn Vue. One of the arresting sergeants suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his arm. While taking Dupree into custody, police saw a handgun on his hip. Officers secured the weapon as evidence and conducted a computer check on the serial number. The gun came back as being reported stolen.
Dupree was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Afterwards he was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his warrants. He was additionally charged with Resisting, Assault III, Criminal Mischief III, Fail to Stop, Theft II – Firearms, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession. He was cited for Fail to Carry Proof of Insurance.
The handgun taken from Dupree during his arrest had been reported as stolen to APD on May 19, 2023. The gun had been in the locked center console of a vehicle parked outside a residence on the 100-block of Sweetgale Court. Both the vehicle and the lockbox had been broken into; the gun was taken (APD Case 23-16183)s.

Bobby Dupree has been arrested on his five felony warrants.

At 8:01 PM on August 21, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to the 2400-block of Mc Rae Road regarding a shooting. Initial indications are that 53-year-old Bobby R. Dupree got into an altercation with an adult male family member outside of the family member’s residence. At some point during the disturbance, Dupree produced a handgun and fired at least one time, striking the adult male family member in the lower body. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury; Dupree fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Efforts to locate Bobby Dupree have been unsuccessful. Detectives obtained a felony arrest warrant for Dupree for the charges of Assault II and Misconduct Involving a Weapon III. Dupree is 5’08” tall, 215 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. Bobby Dupree is an Absconder from Probation. He also has four other existing felony warrants: 1) Probation Violation for the original charge of Sex Assault I; 2) Fail to Register as a Sex Offender; 3) Burglary 1, Theft II, and Criminal Mischief, and 4) Fraudulent use of an Access Device, Theft II, and Forgery II.
The nature of the argument between the victim and suspect is still under investigation.
