Update on 8/28/23:

At 5:42 PM on August 25, 2023, APD officers assigned to the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) located 53-year-old Bobby R. Dupree in a business parking lot on the 600-block of E Northern Lights Avenue; Dupree was wanted on five felony warrants.  Several ISU officers approached Dupree as he was mounting a 1982 black Kawasaki motorcycle.  Dupree attempted to flee but was unable to do so as some officers went hands-on while another officer blocked the motorcycle in from the rear with a police vehicle.

Dupree was physically uncooperative, and he did not follow commands; he was escorted to the ground and handcuffed.  During that process, the motorcycle fell over and scratched an unoccupied and parked 2009 white Saturn Vue.  One of the arresting sergeants suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his arm.  While taking Dupree into custody, police saw a handgun on his hip.  Officers secured the weapon as evidence and conducted a computer check on the serial number.  The gun came back as being reported stolen.

Dupree was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.  Afterwards he was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his warrants.  He was additionally charged with Resisting, Assault III, Criminal Mischief III, Fail to Stop, Theft II – Firearms, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession.  He was cited for Fail to Carry Proof of Insurance.

The handgun taken from Dupree during his arrest had been reported as stolen to APD on May 19, 2023.  The gun had been in the locked center console of a vehicle parked outside a residence on the 100-block of Sweetgale Court.  Both the vehicle and the lockbox had been broken into; the gun was taken (APD Case 23-16183)s.
