Brandon Stephan taken into custody by K9 Hank after running from police
On May 13, 2022, ISU Officers (Investigative Support Unit) and K9 received information that 35-year-old Brandon J. Stephan was in a business parking lot on the 7700-block of Debarr Rd. Brandon had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. The first was for Assault III and Assault IV. The second was for the charges of Assault I, Assault III, and Assault IV.
When the officers saw Brandon walking across the lot, they identified themselves as police and gave Brandon commands to stop. Brandon began to run all-the-while ignoring officers’ commands to include K9 warnings. K9 Hank was deployed; K9 Hank contacted Brandon’s arm at which time Brandon was taken into custody. During the pat search officers removed a baggie containing drugs from Brandon’s person.
Subsequent to receiving treatment at the hospital for the dog bite and being interviewed by detectives at the Anchorage Police Department, Brandon Stephan was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his two warrants. He was additionally charged with Resisting and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance V.
Swing shift patrol officers assisted in the arrest. Neither K9 Hank, nor any of the officers, were injured.
