Chief Kerle Announces Body Worn Camera Updates
Anchorage Police Chief Michael Kerle announced today that APD has selected a vendor for a centralized digital evidence platform, which includes body cameras, to move through the municipal purchasing process. When the contract is finalized and approved by the Assembly, APD will announce the vendor’s name and begin the process of purchasing the body cameras.
With the arbitration process being delayed over the policy, Chief Kerle has decided to move forward and implement the latest version of the Body Worn Camera Policy. Body cameras will be rolled out when they arrive and when officers have been trained on their use. Updates to the Body Worn Policy will occur, as necessary. An updated version of the Body Worn Camera Policy is attached for the public to view here: https://www.anchoragepolice.com/policies.
