Homicide Investigation: 32nd Avenue and Muldoon Road

Update on 9/28/22:

At 5:05 AM on September 22, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to a wooded area near Muldoon Road and 32nd Avenue regarding an unresponsive adult female lying in a tent.  Officers located the deceased victim and saw injuries on her body.  APD’s Crime Scene Team responded to process the area; the Medical Examiner took possession of the body.

On that same day officers contacted the victim’s boyfriend, 26-year-old William L. Gonzalez III, and transported him to the Anchorage Police Department to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of that interview, Gonzalez III was remanded at the Anchorage Jail for probation violation offenses.

On September 27th the victim’s death was classified as a homicide.  It’s been determined that she died from injuries she sustained during an assault committed by Gonzalez III.  On September 28th APD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzalez III for the charge of Murder II.  That warrant was served on Gonzalez III at the Anchorage Jail where he has been incarcerated since his arrest on September 22nd.

The victim’s name will not be released by APD due to this being a domestic violence-related crime.

At 5:05 AM on September 22, 2022, officers assigned to Mid-Shift Patrol responded to the area of 32nd Avenue and Muldoon Road in reference to a deceased person.

The circumstances around the death are still under investigation. The Crime Scene Team is responding to process the scene; a drone may be used. Ultimately the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
