Original on 5/20/24:

At 6:15 PM on May 20, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run collision.  Initial indications are than an adult female was crossing A Street between Fireweed Lane and E 16th Avenue when she was stuck by a Dodge Charger being driven northbound on A Street.  The victim was not in a cross walk; she was declared deceased at the scene by AFD medics.

The driver of the Dodge, 40-year-old Larry W. Anderson JR, left the scene without notifying police.  He was contacted a short time later by officers at a nearby location.  He was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on the charges of Driving with a Revoked License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Failure to Render Aid.

APD’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded and is processing the scene.  Northbound A Street between Fireweed and 16th is currently closed while that is occurring.

The victim’s name will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
