At 9:42 PM on September 27, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to the area of N. Post Road and Yakutat Street for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

It was reported that a male adult driving a motorcycle on N. Post Road collided with a Dodge Charger driven by a male adult. After the collision, both vehicles caught fire. A bystander pulled the motorcyclist from the fire and performed lifesaving measures until officers and medics arrived. The Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) ultimately declared the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Charger was transported to a local hospital by AFD medics with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation. No charges have been filed.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) has responded to process the site. All lanes of N. Post Road near Yakutat Street will remain closed while this occurs.
