Hexagon selected by Anchorage Police Department for next-gen 9-1-1 solution
Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division today announced Anchorage Police Department has selected Hexagon’s industry-leading public safety platform to bring next-generation 9-1-1 capabilities to the city’s emergency operations. The new system, comprised of HxGN OnCall Dispatch, HxGN OnCall Records and field mobility solutions, will enable the department to better manage high call volume, dispatch more efficiently and improve response times through greater management of resources.
Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, has a 9-1-1 coverage area encompassing more than 100 square miles. The Anchorage Police Department Emergency Communications Center handles approximately 400,000 calls annually, serving as the initial public safety answering point for all 9-1-1 calls in the city. The new integrated solution will streamline processes and procedures, enhance emergency response, and equip law enforcement with vital information both in the field and at the office.
“Facing an end-of-life system, we took this as an opportunity to bring next-generation 9-1-1 capabilities to our city,” said Anchorage Chief of Police Michael Kerle. “With Hexagon’s public safety solutions, residents will have access to more communication channels during an emergency, officers in the field will be supported with richer information and the entire team will benefit from a federally compliant records management system.”
“Helping to protect the people of Anchorage is an honor,” said Ben Ernst, vice president and general manager for public safety in North America, Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division. “We are proud to partner with the Anchorage Police Department to support their public safety efforts through the use of Hexagon solutions.”
Hexagon’s industry-leading public safety solutions are deployed by thousands of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services agencies around the world, helping to protect nearly a billion people.
