Hit-and-Run Collision at Muldoon Road/E 4th Avenue

At 5:16 AM this morning, the driver involved in last night’s hit-and-run collision at Muldoon and E 4th called APD to turn himself in. Police have contacted the driver and impounded the involved vehicle for evidence. This investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed.
Update on 10/10/22 at 2:20 AM:
Initial indications are that an SUV was travelling northbound on Muldoon Road when it struck two pedestrians that stepped out into the roadway near E 4th Avenue. The driver of the SUV initially stopped after the collision but then left without making contact with anyone. The adult female victim suffered life-threatening injuries. The adult male victim is expected to survive his injuries.
A photo of the suspect vehicle is attached (the SUV at the forefront of the picture). It is believed to be a blue Nissan Xterra which was last seen being driven northbound. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle and/or who the driver may have been is asked to call APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press “0”). At 7:37 PM on October 9, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to a hit and run collision near E 4th Avenue and Muldoon Road wherein two pedestrians were struck; both were transported to hospitals. At least one of the victims has what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle involved fled the scene. Police are asking anyone who has information regarding the collision, to include surveillance footage, to please call APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press “0”).
The Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) is responding to process the scene; a drone may be used. Road closures will remain in place while they do so.

Anchorage Police have responded to a traffic collision with injuries. All northbound lanes of Muldoon Road at E 6th Avenue are closed. One southbound lane at that intersection is also closed. Please avoid the area and use another route.
