Detectives have determined this to be a homicide.

The victim was shot in the upper body. He has been identified as Laron Roberts (36 years old). Next of kin procedures have been completed.

Anyone with information about this investigation, including surveillance video, should call Dispatch at 311 or Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP to remain anonymous.

At 10:13 AM on Sunday, April 28, 2019, Anchorage Police responded to the 1000-block of E 20th Avenue in reference to a deceased person found in a vehicle. Officer located the adult male victim. Observations made at the scene are prompting authorities to take a closer look at the incident. The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the area. The medical examiner will ultimately determine the cause of death.

The victim’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been complete. Please avoid the area while the scene is being worked.
