Homicide; 1800-block of E 5th Avenue
Update on 8/23/16:
At 4:04 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, Kuach C. Kuach turned himself in at the Anchorage Jail where he was remanded. Kuach was wanted in connection with the death of Chaduer Chuol who died after being ejected from a vehicle on August 5th on the 1800 block of E 5th Avenue.
Update on 8/18/16:
Anchorage police are asking the public for help locating 19-year-old Kuach C. Kuach who has been charged in the death of 19-year-old Chaduer Chuol. Kuach has been charged with one count of Manslaughter and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. A person commits the crime of Manslaughter when they intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly cause the death of another person under circumstances not amounting to murder in the first or second degree. Kuach’s initial bail has been set at $75,000 c/c.

On August 5, 2016, just after 3:00 a.m. police responded to the area of the 1800 block of E 5th Avenue to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. When officers arrived, they located a male (later identified as Chuol) ejected from a 1990 Honda Accord. Chuol was transported by medics to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation by police found that Chuol was likely the driver and Kuach was a passenger in the Honda. Kuach had sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and was transported to a local hospital.
Multiple bullet holes were found on the Honda as well as holes indicting shots had been fired from inside the vehicle. Shell casings were also found in the roadway indicating a shooting had occurred prior to the collision. Additional evidence found that a dark colored, pickup truck had been chasing the Honda at a high rate of speed westbound on East 5th Avenue prior to the collision. Anyone with additional information on this vehicle, and/or who may have been involved in the shooting, is asked to contact police.
