Homicide; 200-block McCarrey Street

UPDATE:  June 20, 2023 (Anchorage, AK) – On June 16, 19-year-old Dominiq Seeman pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and one consolidated count of first-degree assault for causing the death of 19-year-old Khirey Pruitt and injuring several other individuals. Seeman, who was 17 years old at the time of the offense, was charged as an adult for the crime pursuant to Alaska Statute 47.12.030.

The charges stem from the Oct. 7, 2020, murder of 19-year-old Khirey Pruitt. Seeman is one of three individuals charged with causing the death.

The case was investigated by the Anchorage Police Department. Anchorage Superior Court Judge Catherine Easter accepted Seeman’s plea and ordered the Department of Corrections to prepare a presentence report. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23, 2023, in front of Anchorage Superior Court Judge Jack McKenna.

UPDATE: October 16, 2020
– Today, an Anchorage grand jury indicted 16 year-old London Mena, 17 year-old Dominiq Seeman, and 19 year-old Anthony Jameson, for killing Khirey Pruitt on October 7, 2020, at an apartment located on McCarrey Street in Anchorage. Each defendant was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, one count of manslaughter, nine-counts of first-degree assault, and one count of evidence tampering.

If convicted at trial, the defendants face sentences of up to 99 years imprisonment for each of the murder charges, 20 years imprisonment for each of the manslaughter and first-degree charges, and up to 5 years for the evidence tampering charges.

These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

All defendants are currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. They are scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Anchorage on October 21, 2020.

Update---10/8/20---8 p.m.:
A third suspect has been arrested.

The suspect has been identified as Anthony Jameson (19 years old). He faces charges of Murder 1 and Murder 2.

Update--10/8/20---7:15 a.m.
The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Khirey K. Pruitt. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

Update on 10/7/20 at 10:00 PM:
The preliminary investigation found there was a large party inside an apartment. At some point, an altercation occurred between a group of people. As a result of the altercation, multiple shots were fired by multiple people. Five people were found with gunshot wounds (two adult males and three adult females). One adult male died at the scene and the rest were transported to a hospital.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified two juvenile males as suspects. They were located, questioned by detectives and transported to the Anchorage Jail.

The suspects have been identified as London Mena (16 years old) and Dominiq Seeman (17 years old). They both face charges as adults for Murder 1 and Murder 2.

Additional arrests and charges are possible as the investigation continues.

The deceased victim’s identification will be released when next-of-kin procedures are completed.

Original 10/7/20 2:30 a.m.:
On 10/7/20 around 1:20 a.m., Dispatch received a report of shots fired in the 200 block of McCarrey Street.

Officers with the Patrol Division found four adults (two males and two females) with gunshot wounds at an apartment complex. One adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. The two adult females were transported a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries.

There will be a large police presence in the area as the investigation continues. There are no road closures at this time. If you are in the area, please follow officer’s instructions.
