December 11, 2019 (Anchorage, AK) – An Anchorage grand jury yesterday indicted 34-year-old Tylan Fely for the murders of his wife Cecilia Tuuaga and their 13-year-old daughter Neveah Tuuaga.

The indictment charges two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, five counts of tampering with physical evidence, one count of third-degree arson, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, and one count of third-degree weapons misconduct, all stemming from Fely’s conduct on November 30, 2019. The prosecution also has charged Fely with two counts of first-degree corpse misconduct and one count of second-degree criminally negligent burning.

If convicted at trial, Fely faces a sentence of up to 99 years imprisonment for each of the murder charges, up to 5 years for each of the evidence tampering, arson, criminal mischief, and weapons misconduct charges, and up to 1 year for the corpse misconduct and criminally negligent burning charges.

The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Fely is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He is scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court on December 12, 2019.

Update 12/2/19 2:30 p.m.:
Detectives identified a suspect in this investigation and took him into custody this morning. He was questioned, arrested and transported to jail.

The suspect has been identified as Tylan Fely (34 years old). He faces multiple charges including Murder 1, Murder 2, Arson 3, Misconduct Involving a Weapon 3, Misconduct Involving a Corpse, Tampering with Evidence, Criminal Negligent Burning 2 and Criminal Mischief 3.

The victims are believed to be an adult female and juvenile female. The cause of death and identities of the two victims are still being investigated and haven’t been determined at this time.

Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and domestic related.

Original 12/1/19 12:45 a.m.:
At 11:12 PM on November 30, 2019, both the Anchorage Police Department and Anchorage Fire Department responded to the 200-block of Newell Street in reference to reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival an SUV was found fully engulfed while parked in a vacant lot; it appears there are two deceased individuals inside. APD’s crime scene team will be responding to process the scene along with AFD. The exact cause of death, and identities of the victims, will be determined/confirmed by the Medical Examiner. The names of the victims will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
