From the Anchorage District Attorney's Office:
An Anchorage Grand Jury indicted 27 year-old Simon Weyiouanna on Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, and several counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence in the First Degree.

On February 28, 2018, at approximately 10:25 p.m., the Anchorage Police Department responded to a 911 call from an apartment building near 30th Avenue and Wisconsin Street. The 911 caller reported seeing Simon Weyiouanna pulling on what appeared to be a human leg underneath a pile of sheets outside of the apartment building. The 911 caller’s husband and son held Weyiouwanna at gunpoint until APD arrived. Upon arrival, APD found Weyiouwanna’s car backed onto the walkway, the car running, the car’s hatchback open, and the body of a deceased female wrapped in sheets. The female, who died from apparent stab wounds, was later identified as Cheri Ingram.

Weyiouanna was taken into custody on an arrest warrant. Bail was set in the warrant by the court at $250,000 cash appearance and $250,000 cash performance. Weyiouwanna remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections and will be arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court on March 12, 2018.

If convicted at trial, Weyiouwanna faces a sentence of up to 99 years imprisonment for Murder in the First Degree. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Weyiouanna is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
