Update from the Attorney General's Office:

August 8, 2019 (Anchorage, AK) An Anchorage grand jury Wednesday indicted 47-year-old Jeffery Schubauer on counts of Murder in the Second Degree and Manslaughter.

The charges stem from an assault that occurred in East Anchorage in the late evening hours of November 8, 2018. Anchorage Police Department responded to a report of a male bleeding heavily in the middle of Eighth Avenue near Bragaw Street. The victim, later identified as Tupou Satini, died the following day from his injuries.

Schubauer is currently on felony probation in three other cases, including Kidnapping in the First Degree and Burglary in the First Degree. He was arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court today and is being held on a $200,000 cash only bond.

If convicted at trial, Schubauer faces a sentence of up to 99 years imprisonment, a fine of $500,000, or both.
