The victim has been identified as Ronald Raymond (51 years old).

Next of kin procedures have been completed.

Update 12/5/19 3:05pm:
The Medical Examiner has found that the victim sustained trauma to the upper body. The type of trauma is still being investigated.

Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and not random.

This investigation has been changed to a homicide investigation.

Original: 12/4/19 2:05 a.m.:
On 12/3/19 around 10:30 p.m., Officers with the Patrol Division and our partners with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to a residence in the 4600 block of East 4th Avenue for a report of an unconscious person.

One adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else injured.

While the cause of death is still under investigation, the victim's death is considered suspicious in nature. APD Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Team have responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released pending next of kin notification procedures.
