Homicide; 700-block Klevin Street

On November 13, 2019, an Anchorage grand jury indicted Chue Yang for the murder of his wife, Nancy Xiong. Specifically, the grand jury indicted Mr. Yang for Murder in the First and Second Degree. The indictments stem from an incident that occurred on November 03, 2019, in which Nancy Xiong died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Mr. Yang was originally charged on November 03, 2019 with Manslaughter and Criminally Negligent Homicide. Today, the grand jury elevated those charges to Murder in the First and Second Degree, both of which are punishable by up to 99 years in prison. Mr. Yang’s bail is currently set at $200,000 cash performance with an additional requirement of a third party custodian.

The indictment is not evidence of guilt and the defendant is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Mr. Yang is expected to be arraigned on the increased charges in Superior Court on November 15, 2019.

Update 11/3/19 11:00 AM:
The person who was taken into custody has been identified as 31-year-old Chue Yang. After being interviewed by detectives, Yang was arrested on multiple charges including Criminal Negligent Homicide and Manslaughter.

The identity of the victim will be not be released by APD due to this being a DV Crime.

On 11/3/19 at around 12:30 a.m., Officers with the Patrol Division were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Klevin Street in response to a report of a deceased individual.

Upon arrival, Officers found an adult female deceased inside the home. They have taken one adult male into custody for questioning. There are no outstanding suspects at this time.

The preliminary investigation found that there was a disturbance inside the home between the male and female that turned physically violent. The female died as a result of her injuries.

Homicide detectives and the APD Crime Scene Team will be on location for several hours processing the scene.

There have been no arrests at this time. The identity of the deceased female will be released pending next-of-kin procedures.
