Homicide; 700-block N Park Street

Update on 8/7/14:

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, just before 9:30 p.m. APD Dispatch received a report of a stabbing at a residence located on the 700 block of N. Park Street. Police and medics responded and found an adult male with multiple stab wounds and in critical condition. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation of the stabbing revealed that the victim and Ralph Nayokpuk were raised as stepbrothers and living at the same residence. On Tuesday evening, Ralph Nayokpuk returned home and was intoxicated. At one point, Ralph Nayokpuk and the victim got into a verbal altercation which then turned physical; Nayokpuk stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest and in the back. Nayokpuk then called 911.

APD officers arrived and took Nayokpuk into custody without incident. Nayokpuk was charged with Murder in the First Degree and Murder in the Second Degree, with no bail set.

Note: A criminal charge is merely an accusation of criminal wrongdoing. All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty by a court of law.

Anchorage police are investigating a fatal stabbing of a male at a residence on the 700 block of N. Park St. Police dispatch received a call reporting the stabbing just before 9:30 PM this evening. Police and medics arrived on scene and an adult male victim with multiple stab wounds was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Police have taken the stabbing suspect into custody and the investigation is ongoing. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this incident. Additional details will be released as they come available.
