Homicide; Birch Street/Vine Avenue

Update on 1/26/17:

On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, police learned of the location of 18-year-old Kenya Berezkin who was a person of interest in a murder last Saturday on Government Hill.  Berezkin was taken into custody Wednesday evening for questioning and was subsequently charged and jailed for Murder I, Murder II, and Robbery I.
 
Kenya Berezkin and Sean Simeonoff have been accused of meeting with the victim for the purposes of buying marijuana.  During the transaction the victim was held at gunpoint, robbed of his possessions, and shot in the back.  The victim was found not breathing and lying in the street; medics began life-saving efforts and officially declared him deceased after arriving at the hospital.

 

Update on 1/25/17:

On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, Sean Simeonoff turned himself into police for questioning regarding the Government Hill homicide on January 21st.  Simeonoff was charged with Murder I, Murder II, and Robbery I and was incarcerated at the Anchorage Jail.

At 12:03 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017, Anchorage Police responded to Birch Street and Vine Avenue regarding a male who had been shot.  A male juvenile was found deceased in the street.

Through investigative efforts, APD Detectives have identified 18-year-old Sean Robert Samuel Simeonoff and 18-year-old Kenya Damien Jacob Berezkin as persons of interest and it is believed they have information regarding this crime.
