Update on 11/18/19:
Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying and/or locating a person of interest in this investigation.

An adult male (see attached photo) was at the Black Angus Inn on the day of the homicide.

Detectives believe this person has information to help solve this crime and would like to speak to him.

Toni Anaruk has been located.

Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest in the November 7th homicide of James Page at the Black Angus Inn. Detectives would like to speak with 31-year-old Toni A. Anaruk whom is believed to have been at the Black Angus at the time of the death and may have information to provide.

Update 11/9/18:
This case is now classified as a homicide investigation.

The victim was assaulted and died as a result of those injuries.

Detectives are looking to speak with anyone who has information, including surveillance video, about this investigation. They can call Dispatch at 311 (option #1) or Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP to remain anonymous.

Update 11/8/18 3:20pm:
Detectives have determined this to be a suspicious death investigation based on additional evidence collected at the scene.

The victim has been identified as James Page, Jr. (59 years old). Next of kin procedures have been completed.

Original 11/8/18:
At 10:29 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, Anchorage Police responded to the Black Angus Inn at 1430 Gambell Street in reference to a deceased adult male found inside the motel. Since that time APD detectives have received new information that has prompted a closer look at the scene.

APD’s Crime Scene Team is currently at the Black Angus for further processing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
