Homicide; Black Angus Inn at 1430 Gambell Street

Update on 2/3/20:
On 1/28/2020 our partners with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force located the suspect, Brant Marshall, in the United States Virgin Islands. He was taken into custody, arrested, and will be extradited back to Alaska.

We are thankful for the public's help with this case. We received multiple tips over the course of this investigation; a Crime Stopper's tip is what ultimately led to the apprehension of this suspect.

Update on 12/12/19:
Detectives have determined Brant Marshall (39 years old) is the suspect in this investigation. He previously was a person-of-interest in this investigation.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect on charges of Murder 2 and Manslaughter.

Detectives have located Brittney D. Johnson.

Update 12/10/19 at 2:40 PM:
Police are looking for 40-year-old Brittney D. Johnson. Detectives believe she may have information regarding the homicide at the Black Angus last week and would like to speak with her.

Police are still looking for the name and location of the first person of interest whose photo was released yesterday.

Update 12/9/19 at 4:45 PM:
Anchorage Police are asking for the public’s help in both identifying and locating the man shown in the attached photos. Detectives believe he may have information regarding the homicide at the Black Angus last week and would like to speak with him.

Update 12/4/19 at 8:55 AM:
The victim has been identified as Grant Fowler (34 years old).

Next of kin procedures have been completed.

Detectives are still asking anyone with any information to call Dispatch at 311 or call Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP to remain anonymous.

Update 12/3/19 5:40 PM:
The victim was declared deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital; this incident is now being investigated as a homicide. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no public safety concern at this time.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1).

Original 12/3/19:
Officers are on the scene of a shooting investigation inside the Black Angus Inn (1430 Gambell Street).

Dispatch received a report around 3:15 p.m. of a shooting. Officers found an adult male shot in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

There will be a large police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

There are no road closures at this time.

If anyone has any information, including surveillance video, they are asked to call Dispatch at 311.
