Nicholas Dufour Charged in Burglary Investigation

At 2:26 AM on September 4, 2024, Anchorage Police Mid-Shift Patrol Officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a commercial building located at 3330 Denali Street.  It was reported the building was under construction; there was temporary fencing surrounding most of the structure.

Upon arrival officers located an unsecured door to the building.  A perimeter was set up and multiple commands were given to include K9 warnings.  When no response was received, officers went inside with the owner’s permission.  The first floor was cleared; no one was found.  Prior to ascending to the second floor, officers again announced themselves as police officers, gave K9 warnings, and issued several commands.  When those commands went unacknowledged, officers began searching the second level.  K9 Kiska located 39-year-old Nicholas Dufour hiding inside a room under several cardboard boxes.  The dog contacted Dufour on one of his arms allowing officers to take Dufour into custody without further incident.

Once Nicholas Dufour was treated for the dog bite at a local hospital, he was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on an existing felony warrant.  He was additionally charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Burglary Tools.
