Officer involved shooting investigation; 12700-block of Ginami Street
Update on 9/26/16:
Anchorage police are releasing the names of the six officers who discharged their weapons during a standoff at a residence on Ginami Street last Thursday on September 22, 2016, just after noon. The officers who fired their weapons are Robert Wurst, Steven Childers, Matthew Barth, Daniel Henegar, Jason Penman, and Seth McMillan.
Because the officers discharged their weapons, this is considered an Officer Involved Shooting investigation. Per department policy, these officers were placed on four days of administrative leave. The Office of Special Prosecutions will determine if the officers’ use of force was justified. APD’s Office of Professional Responsibility will determine if the officers’ actions were within department policy. It was unknown during the time of the shooting whether any of the officers’ shots injured the barricaded shooting suspect, 69-year-old Robert Musser. The investigation into the standoff and Musser’s death is still ongoing.
Update on 9/23/16:
The standoff between law enforcement and a shooting suspect at a residence on the 12700 block of Ginami Street has ended after law enforcement confirmed that the suspect, identified as 69-year-old Robert Musser, was deceased in his home. An investigation and autopsy will determine the cause and nature of Musser's death. The medical examiner will take custody of the body.
The investigation into the standoff is still ongoing. Ginami Street will remain closed for several more hours as law enforcement conducts the investigation. Additional information will be released as it comes available.
The Anchorage Police Department is appreciative of the response and assistance from the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI Anchorage Division. We also thank the neighbors and residents in this area for their cooperation during our lengthy standoff.

Police are attempting to contact a resident at the 12700 block of Ginami who reportedly fired shots at workers in the area. No injuries have been reported. Please avoid the area.
