Update on 12/13/22:

On December 10, 2022, 30-year-old Brodie Smith died in the hospital from injuries he sustained in an assault on December 4th.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.  His death is being investigated as a homicide.

On December 6, 2022, 22-year-old Kevin L. Green was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Assault II and Assault IV for his role in the incident.

On December 8, 2022, Anchorage Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Jalen J. J. Cannon for the charge of Assault II.  He was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on that warrant on December 12th.

The investigation is ongoing, and the charges filed are allegations only and the defendants are presumed innocent.  Ultimately the District Attorney’s Office will determine if additional charges will be brought against these defendants.

Update on 12/7/22:

Anchorage Police Detectives are investigating this incident as an assault.  Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people whom detectives believe may have information regarding this case. The first person is the male wearing the light gray zip-up hoodie, black pants, tan shoes, and black ball cap.  The second person is the male wearing the white backwards ball cap, dark gray hoodie, dark gray sweatpants, and black shoes.  Anyone who has information regarding who they are and/or their current whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Roberts at 907-786-8745 or christina.roberts@anchorageak.gov.  To remain anonymous, you may leave a tip online at www.AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com

At 2:56 AM on December 4, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to the area near W 3rd Avenue and Christensen Drive regarding an injured male lying on the ground; a citizen was performing CPR.  Both police and medics responded; they located the adult male victim who had visible trauma to the upper body.  The victim was transported to a hospital with what are believed to be life threatening injuries.

The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the scene.  Christensen Drive between W 3rd Avenue and W 2nd Avenue will be closed during that time.
