Shooting Investigation; 2900-block of Spenard Road; Suspect in custody

Update on 6/9/22:

As officers arrived in the area, they were waived down by a group of people who pointed out the two individuals involved.  Initial indications are that 54-year-old Robert E. Gentry and 59-year-old Stanley Edwards were engaged in a physical altercation when Edwards pulled out a handgun and fired a shot.

During the fight, Robert Gentry received a gash to his head.  He was transported to the hospital for treatment of the wound which was determined to not be as a result of being shot.  Once Gentry’s wound was attended to, both he and Edwards were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.

Ultimately Robert Gentry was charged with Assault IV and Stanley Edwards was charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon.  Alcohol appears to have been a factor.
