UPDATE Nov. 25

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Malcom Thomas. Thomas was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) and charged with Assault I, Assault III, Misconduct with a Weapon III, three (3) counts of Reckless Endangerment, and Tampering with Evidence.

UPDATE: 4:30 AM

At 2:24 AM on Nov. 25, APD Mid-shift officers responded to the area 8900 block of Jewel Lake Rd. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old adult male with a gunshot wound to the midsection. Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

At 2:24 AM on Nov. 25, APD Mid-shift officers responded to the area 8900 block of Jewel Lake Rd. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old adult male with a gunshot wound to the midsection. Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. 

The 25-year-old male suspect of the shooting fled the 8900 block area of Jewel Lake Rd. before officers arrived and was subsequently located and taken into custody near the 1900 block of Lore Rd. He was transported to APD headquarters for questioning. 

There is no ongoing public safety threat related to this incident and there are no road closures.
