SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: 17000 Block of Juanita Loop, Eagle River AK

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: Dec. 31, 2024 at 2:24 PM
UPDATE ON 1/2/25: Through the investigation, Officers received information the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Andrew Weber, entered a room in the Microtel Inn. Officers set up a perimeter and made multiple commands for Weber to exit the room, which went ignored. Officers deployed an OC round (Oleoresin Capsicum or “pepper spray”), and Weber exited the room and was taken into custody without further incident.
It was discovered Weber was a convicted felon. He was remanded to Anchorage Correctional Complex on the charges of MIW 3-Felon in Possession, MIW-4 Firing Recklessly, Resisting Arrest, and for an outstanding felony warrant.
UPDATE: On Dec. 31, 2024, at 4:48 p.m., APD drones will be deployed near the 13000 block of Old Glenn Highway.
NARRATIVE: At 2:24 PM on December 31, 2024, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 17000 block of N Juanita Loop in Eagle River. The shots were believed to have come from the wooded area near Planet Fitness. The suspect is thought to have returned to their hotel room at the Microtel. At this time, no injuries or gunshot victims have been reported.
The suspect has not been detained at this time.

Police are currently following up on leads and there is no suspect information to release at this time. The motive for the incident, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation.
