On June 17, 2022, at 8:51 PM, a Swing Shift Patrol Officer was flagged down near A Street and 32nd Avenue by an adult male who reported that he had been stabbed and had wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later determined to have life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, 60-year-old Harry Bartels was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. The motive for and the circumstances around the stabbing are still under investigation.

Harry Bartels was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on charges of Assault 1, Tampering with Evidence, and Assault 4.
