Stabbing at W 7th Avenue/C Street; suspect taken into custody

Update on 4/27/22:

Anchorage Police responded to W 7th Avenue, between A and C Streets regarding a stabbing.  Upon arrival officers were contacted by a witness who pointed out a male and female couple walking southbound.  The officers gave the two commands to stop but neither did so.  As the two were crossing the street, the female let go of the adult male and the male started to stumble.  Officers quickly grabbed hold of the male and sat him down on the curb.  Medics were called as the male had visible injuries to the upper body.  As the officers tended to the male’s wounds, the female continued to walk away.

One of the officers ran after the female on foot at the same time as another officer arrived at the scene.  They gave the female commands which she complied with.  She was arrested and transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning.  Through the investigation it was determined the male victim and female suspect are in a dating relationship.  The female also had two other open criminal cases which forbade her from having contact with the male.

After the interview with detectives was over, 24-year-old Jasmine R. R. Tunutmoak was remanded at Hiland Correctional for two counts of Assault I and two counts of Violate Conditions of Release.

When the victim was originally transported to the hospital for treatment, it was thought that his wounds were life-threatening.  The victim is now expected to survive his injuries.
