Fatality Investigation: 7th Avenue and Bragaw Street

Update:

Initial indications are that an SUV was traveling northbound on Bragaw Street when it entered the intersection with 7th Avenue and collided with a westbound pickup truck. The pickup caught fire upon impact.  The pickup’s driver was declared deceased at the scene.  The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital by AFD Medics with serious injuries that he is expected to survive. 

The investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed. 

The Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) has responded and is processing the site.  Bragaw Street between 6th and 8th Avenues will remain closed while that occurs.

At 6:08 AM on September 30, 2024, Anchorage Police were dispatched to the intersection of 7th Avenue and Bragaw Street in reference to a vehicle collision with injuries.

Both directions of Bragaw Street between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue are shut down. Traffic will be diverting east at 6th Avenue from Bragaw Street and west to Penland Parkway while the collision is investigated.

More details will be forthcoming.
