Fatal Vehicle Collision; Mile 108.5 Seward Highway (Rainbow); Avoid Area for Several Hours

CORRECTION: The Toyota Corolla's driver was a juvenile male, not an adult male as previously stated. His name will not be released due to him being a minor.

The Ford F150's driver was an adult male who had an adult female passenger and three juvenile passengers. It was previously released that the female was the driver. All were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Please continue to avoid the area.

Update--1:25AM--06/30/22
At 12:13 AM on June 30, 2022, Officers with the Mid-Shift Patrol and medics with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the New Seward Highway at Mile 108.5 in reference to a vehicle collision with injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on the New Seward Highway when it collided with a Ford F150 that was traveling northbound. The adult male driver of the Toyota Corolla was declared deceased at the scene. The victim’s name will be released once next of kin procedures have been completed. The adult female driver and two juvenile passengers of the Ford F150 were transported by medics with the Anchorage Fire Department to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Please expect closures and delays for the next several hours while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit process the scene. Please avoid the area.
