At 5:02 AM on September 17, 2023, APD Dispatch received an automated message from an iPhone that its owner had been in a crash. The phone was mapping near the Glenn Highway and Ft Richardson exit. At 5:05 AM JBER Fire and Police responded to a fire in the trees near Richardson Frontage Road and located a single vehicle off the roadway engulfed in flames. APD officers responded to the scene. The sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased at the scene.

 The Major Collision Investigative Unit is responding to process the scene. Richardson Frontage Road will be reduced to one lane while officer work the scene. The details surrounding the collision are still under investigation.
