Travis Drury Arrested for Glenn Highway Assaults

At 10:00 AM on 4/20/23, Anchorage Police Day Shift officers responded to several reports of a vehicle that was actively ramming a Department of Corrections van outbound on the Glenn Highway near the weigh station. Several people also called into dispatch referencing that same vehicle, a black GMC Yukon XL, that was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on Ingra and the Glenn Highway.  The DOC van, which was transporting prisoners, pulled off the highway at the weigh station and the Yukon XL continued northbound on the Glenn.

 A locate for the Black Yukon XL was aired and an officer observed the vehicle driving outbound on the Glenn Highway, the officer turned on his lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed outbound on the Glenn Highway. The vehicle was stopped just prior to the Glenn Highway/Parks Highway interchange by Alaska State Troopers.

Prior to this incident, the driver of the black Yukon was driving erratically Northbound on Ingra Street. It was tailgating vehicles and cutting other drivers off. The driver of the Yukon attempted to ram into a white Ford Explorer. There was no relationship between the suspect and victims.

 The driver and sole occupant was identified as 34-year-old Travis Drury. Drury was placed under arrest without further incident. Drury was transported to the Anchorage Jail and remanded on Assault 3 (Four counts), Fail to Stop at the Direction of an Officer.
