Amber Kinneeveauk arrested for hit-and-run collision while intoxicated

At 5:14 AM on October 16, 2022, Anchorage Police Dispatch received a call from a citizen who witnessed a black vehicle collide with a road barrier.  After the crash the suspect driver continued driving without its vehicle’s headlights being illuminated; the citizen caller stated he no longer had eyes on the suspect vehicle.  Mid-shift patrol officers responded and located a disabled 2003 black GMC Yukon pulled over to the side of the Glenn Highway (southbound side) not far from the Palmer alternate.

As the responding officers approached the GMC, they saw it had heavy damage on the front end and passenger side.  Steam was rising from underneath the hood and the front left tire was shredded and had fallen off the rim; the airbags had deployed.  Officers saw two uninjured adult occupants inside the vehicle to include the driver, 24-year-old Amber L. A. Kinneeveauk.  While speaking with Amber, the officer noticed several signs of impairment.  After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the decision was made to charge Amber with Driving under the Influence. Amber was transported to the Anchorage Jail for further processing.  While there she provided a breath sample showing her breath alcohol content was more than two times the legal limit.

A day-shift patrol officer, who was on his way in to work, notified Dispatch that he found debris in the road north of where Amber had been located.  An officer on the original call responded to the day-shifter’s location and saw where the GMC had been driven into the metal guard rail which was pulled back and had several broken posts.  .

Amber Kinneeveauk was remanded at Hiland Correctional on the charges of Fail to Give Immediate Notice of Accident, Criminal Mischief III, and DUI.
