BETHEL TAUGAVAU CHARGED WITH ROBBERY

On April 17, 2025, at 10:36 AM, APD Day Shift officers were dispatched to the 3300-block of Boniface Pkwy. in response to a reported robbery. The victim relayed to Dispatchers he had been robbed at gun point by an unknown male adult wielding a shotgun. The suspect reportedly fled the scene by entering the back seat of a silver SUV, which was occupied by two other male adults, before driving away. 

Responding Officers quickly located a vehicle nearby that matched the description and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near Turpin St. and Boundary Ave. Additional officers arrived on scene and issued verbal commands for the three occupants to exit the vehicle. Officers detained the suspects without incident. The vehicle was impounded pending application for a search warrant.

The occupants of the vehicle were transported to APD for questioning by detectives. At the conclusion of the interviews, 25-year-old Bethel Taugavau was charged with Robbery 1, three counts of Assault 3, and Assault 4. He was transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex and remanded on his charges.
