Homicide Investigation on the 7300-block of Cantonment Court

Update at 4:05 PM on 11/16/22:

The remaining two suspects have been remanded at the McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC).  Charges have been forwarded for both to the Division of Juvenile Justice.

Update at 7:30 AM on 11/16/22:

Yesterday’s death on Cantonment Court is being investigated as a homicide.  Upon arrival police located a deceased 16-year-old male lying outside with a gunshot wound to the upper body (yesterday’s statement that the victim was an adult was incorrect).  His name will not be released by the Anchorage Police Department due to his age.  His next of kin have been notified.

Three juvenile male suspects have been detained.  One of the males has been remanded at MYC; charges have been forwarded to the Division of Juvenile Justice.  The other two suspects are currently being questioned by detectives at the Anchorage Police Department.  Police are not looking for any other suspects.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

At 2:48 PM on November 15, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to reports of a deceased adult male found lying outside.  Officers responded to the 7300-block of Cantonment Court and located the victim.  The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the scene. 

Cantonment Court is shut down between E 72nd Avenue to the north and the dead end to the south. Anyone who lives on Cantonment is asked to contact officers at the scene with assistance in both entering and exiting driveways on that roadway.
