Dylan Cox Apprehended in Burglary Investigation by K9 Sig

At 3:31 AM on November 1, 2023, Anchorage Police mid-shift patrol officers responded to an alarm call at a business located at 5333 Fairbanks Street.  Upon arrival officers saw the rear door had been damaged and forced open.  Officers contacted the business owner who had surveillance footage of a person entering the building but not exiting.

A perimeter was set up and multiple K9 announcements were made into the structure.  When no reply was received, K9 Sig was deployed inside along with a search team. Officers saw a male, later identified as 23-year-old Dylan L. Cox, lying on a pile of pallets near the loading dock.  Cox was given several instructions, along with many more K9 warnings, all of which went unheeded.  Aside from ignoring commands, Cox continually reached inside his clothing.  K9 Sig was released; the K9 contacted Cox on the arm.  Cox continued to physically resist but he was ultimately taken into custody.

After being treated at a hospital for the dog bite, Cox was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Burglary II and Resisting Arrest.

Neither the K9 nor any of the other officers were injured.
