Fulisia Iosefa JR Arrested in Robbery Investigation

At 3:12 AM on January 30, 2022, a citizen called APD Dispatch to report a robbery.  The citizen reported that he was flagged down by an adult female who stated she was physically assaulted and that her vehicle had been stolen.

Officers contacted the victim who had gone inside a nearby business to wait for police.  Officers saw injuries to the female’s face; the victim declined to have medics respond.  Initial indications are that the victim had stopped her Ford Crown Victoria at the stop sign at Eureka and W 34th Avenue; the driver’s side window was rolled down.  An adult male walked up and punched the victim in the face through the open window. Once the victim was out of the car, the suspect got in and drove away.  The victim flagged down a passerby who called police.

A short time later, just before 5AM, another mid-shift patrol officer saw the stolen Crown Victoria being driven into a parking lot on the 500-block of N Hoyt Street.  The officer watched a male, later identified as 26-year-old Fulisia M. Iosefa JR, get out of the driver’s seat and walk eastbound.  When the officer pulled up behind the stolen Ford, Iosefa saw the officer and began to run.  The officer gave chase on foot all the while giving Iosefa commands to stop.  Iosefa ignored those commands and jumped a fence into a residential yard.  They ran around the side of a home on the 4300-block of Thompson Avenue at which time backup units arrived.  Iosefa followed the officers’ instructions and was taken into custody without further incident.

While interacting with Iosefa, the officer noticed signs of impairment. Iosefa was transported to the Anchorage Jail for OUI processing (Operating Under the Influence).  Ultimately Iosefa was remanded on the charges of Assault III, Robbery II, Vehicle Theft I, OUI, and Assault IV.

There is no indication the victim and suspect were known to one another.
