Homicide; 100-block N Klevin Street

Update:
Next-of-kin procedures are complete. The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Donald Jordan.

Update 7/5/20 2:50 PM:
The suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Sharlene Townsend. After being interviewed by detectives, she was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on multiple charges including Murder I, Assault III, and Evidence Tampering.

Original 7/4/20 8:20 PM:
On 7/4/20 at approximately 7:14 p.m., Officers with the Patrol Division responded to the 100 block of Klevin Street in reference to reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, Officers and medics located one adult male victim outside on the ground near the sidewalk. He was transported by medics to the hospital with life-threatening injuries sustained from gunshot wounds to the upper body. At the hospital, he later died as a result of his injuries. The preliminary investigation found that an adult female suspect made contact with the adult male victim outside, produced a gun, fired multiple shots at him, and fled the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive and the relationship between the victim and suspect, are still under investigation.

One adult female suspect has been taken into custody for questioning by detectives. Officers have made contact with all persons of interest and there are no additional suspects or persons of interest being sought at this time.

The identity of the deceased will be released pending next-of-kin procedures.
