Homicide; 1700-block S Salem Drive
Update on 5/11/17:
Late in the evening on May 8th, 32-year-old Mary Rose Carter was at the home of 57-year-old Gregg S. Niwa on S Salem Drive. They had both been drinking and got into an argument. During that argument, Carter shot Niwa and then stabbed him several times in the torso. She ran from the scene and did not contact police. The next afternoon, on May 9th, Niwa’s body was discovered by his roommate who was not at home at the time of the homicide.
Carter was picked up by police just after 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 10th. After being questioned by police, she was arrested and charged with Murder I and II.

Police located Mary Rose Carter; detectives will be speaking with her.
*Previously Released*: Detectives are looking for 32-year-old Mary Rose Carter who may have information to provide regarding yesterday’s death investigation on South Salem Drive. Carter is a Native female, 5’7” tall, 214 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

At 2:24PM on Tuesday, May 09, 2017, Anchorage Police responded to the 1700-block of S Salem Drive in reference to an injured male. Officers arrived and found a deceased adult male at a residence. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
More information will be released once facts have been confirmed in the case.
