Homicide; 1800-block Orchard Place

Anchorage police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of an adult male, following a home invasion at a residence on Orchard Place. Police have identified the deceased as 30-year-old Loren Douglas and his next of kin have been notified.

On Thursday, February 18, just before 4:30 a.m. 30-year-old Loren Douglas and at least another unidentified person drove to a residence on the 1800 block of Orchard Place. It appeared that Douglas and the accomplice(s) were going to the residence to rob the residence of drugs and money.

There were three occupants inside of the home all under the age of 18. Douglas and his accomplice(s) made entry into the home and shots were fired resulting in the death of Douglas.

Police were contacted just after 4:30 a.m. by one of the occupants of the home stating that there had been a home invasion and shooting at the residence. When police and medics responded, they located Douglas outside of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased by medics at the scene. During the initial investigation, the occupants of the home were cooperative with police. Drugs inside of the home were seized by police. 

Police believe Douglas had at least one accomplice who fled the scene following the shooting. Other evidence at the scene suggests that an accomplice may have suffered a head injury as a result of the incident. Police are looking to identify the accomplice(s) and anyone else who may have been involved in the incident.
