Anchorage police are asking the public for help identifying additional suspects believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Byzantium Hill.

On August 23, 2015, just before 2:00 a.m. police dispatch received multiple calls reporting gunshots heard near E 5TH Avenue and Lane St. When police responded, they located one male outside of a residence, identified as Quinton Henderson, being subdued by another male; police were also told that a male with a gunshot wound was inside the residence. Police located a male in critical condition inside the home. He was transported by medics to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased approximately 20 minutes later. He was identified as 19-year-old Byzantium Hill.

A preliminary investigation of the shooting revealed that a resident of the home was approached by another male outside of the home (later identified as Quinton Henderson) who forced him back into the residence. The two males got into a physical altercation. Another resident of the home got involved in the altercation to subdue Henderson. While the altercation was going on, it was reported that another unknown male entered the residence and started to fire rounds inside the house. Two other male residents went to the front door and a man dressed in all black began firing multiple rounds at the home. Multiple shots were fired; following the gunfire the home invaders fled the scene, possibly in a vehicle. Two of the residents were able to chase down one of the home invaders, Henderson, and subdued him until police arrived.

Further investigation by police found that the residents of the home owed a debt to a male by the name of Chris Winters, and that the debt was past due. Multiple threats were made by Chris to the residents. Chris Winters has been charged with Murder 1 in this case. Quinton Henderson, 38, has been charged with Burglary 1 and Murder 2. This case remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.

Police believe there are more suspects involved in this incident and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 786-8900 and press “0” to speak with dispatch.
