Homicide Investigation: 1000-Block of Hoyt Street
Update on 9/6/23:
From the Attorney General’s Office:
An Anchorage grand jury indicted 20-old Derrek Leo Logoleo yesterday for the murder of Leanoano Pati who was stabbed on May 9, 2023, at an apartment complex on Hoyt Street.
Logoleo is indicted for one count of murder in the first degree, one count of murder in the second degree, and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Logoleo faces a sentence of up to 99 years if convicted at trial.
The charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Logoleo is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. His bail is set at $250,000 cash performance bond, $100,000 unsecured appearance bond, electronic monitoring through the Pretrial Enforcement Division, and a requirement that the court approve a third-party custodian.
Update on 8/30/23:
On May 9, 2023, Anchorage Police found an adult male inside a residence who had been fatally stabbed. Through the subsequent investigation, 20-year-old Derrek L. Logoleo was identified as a person of interest. On August 29, 2023, Anchorage Police patrol officers contacted Logoleo during an unrelated investigation. Logoleo was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.
During the ensuing conversation, the probable cause necessary to support criminal charges in the homicide investigation was developed. Logoleo was subsequently remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Murder I and Murder II.
Update on 5/11/23:
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Leanoano Pati. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

At 11:37 AM on May 09, 2023, officers assigned to Day Shift Patrol responded to the 1000-Block of Hoyt Street in reference to a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult male victim with trauma to the upper body.
The Crime Scene Team has responded to process the scene. Please avoid the area and follow the officers’ instructions if you need to be in the vicinity.
There have been no arrests at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident, that have not already spoken to the police, is asked to call Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (Option 1).
