Joshua James Emon Gould Indicted for Murder

From the Attorney General’s office:

July 19, 2024 (Anchorage, AK) –Today, 46-year-old Joshua James Emon Gould was arraigned on nine felony counts, including counts for Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, and Arson in the First Degree for the deaths of his parents, [domestic violence victim names redacted].

A grand jury indicted Gould on July 17. The indicted charges stem from a multi-unit-residential fire in Anchorage at 3600 Young Street, which Joshua Gould intentionally set in the early morning hours of Feb. 1, 2024.

This case was investigated by the Anchorage Police Department’s homicide unit and the Anchorage Fire Department.

On July 17, 2024, the Grand Jury was presented with a nine-count indictment, charging two counts of Murder in the First Degree, six counts of Murder in the Second Degree, and one count of Arson in the First Degree. After hearing the State’s evidence and upon deliberation, the Grand Jury returned a True Bill on all nine counts charged.

At 1:49am on February 1, 2024, Anchorage Police (APD) and Anchorage Fire (AFD) responded to a residential fire on the 3000-block of Young Street. Two people were evacuated from inside the structure and transported to the hospital by medics with life-threatening injuries, where they later passed away.

The fire is being investigated as an arson and the deaths are being investigated as homicides. This is an ongoing joint investigation with AFD.  At this time, no charges have been filed.
