HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: 3100 BLOCK OF A STREET ON AUG. 2, 2024

On August 2, 2024, at 12:06 AM, APD Mid Shift officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of A Street in response to reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult who had sustained injuries to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital by Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) medics for treatment of his injuries.

After an extended stay in the hospital, the victim's family informed authorities that he passed away on August 13, 2024. The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide, and the Anchorage Police Department is investigating it as such. No charges have been filed at this time; the investigation is ongoing.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Walton Hamilton. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
