Homicide Investigation on the 4100-block of Debarr Road
At 6:36 PM on October 16, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 4100-block of Debarr Road regarding a baby who wasn’t breathing. APD officers administered CPR to the nine-month-old male; AFD medics took over once they arrived. Medics transported the baby to the hospital where he passed away shortly thereafter.
Autopsy results confirmed the child had died from fentanyl poisoning. His death was investigated as a homicide.
Through the subsequent investigation, it was determined that a male was the only adult home with the child at the time of the fatal drug exposure. Prior to the conclusion of the investigation into the baby’s death, that male passed away from a drug overdose. He was the sole suspect in the case therefore no charges are expected to be brought forth.
The suspect and child were related to one another; this is a domestic violence related crime.
