Isaiah Savok Arrested in Point Woronzof Road Shooting Investigation

At 3:18 AM on December 31, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to reports of a shooting.  Initial indications are that an adult male and adult female were sitting in a vehicle at a pullout south of the Point Woronzof overlook parking lot when 27-year-old Isaiah N. Savok shot into the vehicle, hitting the female in the lower and upper body.  The male inside the SUV was not hit by gunfire.

After the shooting, the male victim fled in the car with the injured female inside.  Savok followed the two in his Ford pickup, ramming the victims’ vehicle more than once which caused the victims to crash.  The adult male victim fled on foot as he was in fear of being hurt by Savok.  The injured female exited the SUV and got into the suspect’s pickup truck with the suspect (it’s still under investigation whether the female victim entered the pickup under her own power or not).  Savok drove away with the injured female until they were stopped by Anchorage Police near Northern Lights Boulevard and Forest Park Drive.  Savok was detained without incident and driven to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.  The female victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries which she is expected to survive.

After the interviews were completed, Isaiah Savok was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on the charges of Assault I and three counts of Assault III.  This is a domestic violence related crime between Savok and the female victim.

Officers contacted the male who had been inside the car at the time of the shooting.  He received minor injuries from the car crash; he declined medical attention. The man was also transported for questioning by detectives and was ultimately released.

Anchorage Police extends its gratitude to the Airport Police & Fire Department who responded to Point Woronzof and assisted in the investigation.
