Jason Mack, Vaughan Erickson, and Malaika Lafleur Arrested During Warrant Service
At 5:59 PM on March 13, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 3900-block of Williams Street. Officers had received information that 40-year-old Jason F. Mack and 45-year-old Vaughan E. Erickson were inside the home; they both had outstanding felony warrants for their arrest.
Upon arrival officers saw Vaughan Erickson emerge from inside; he was taken into custody without incident. Shortly thereafter a woman exited the target residence, later identified as 33-year-old Malaika L. Lafleur. Lafleur was asked if Jason Mack was inside, Lafleur stated he wasn’t. The officer gave Lafleur a hindering warning, and then asked her again if Mack was inside. Lafleur stated he wasn’t.
As the investigation progressed, police received confirmation Mack was inside the home at which point Malaika Lafleur was detained. Once additional units arrived at the scene, officers approached the house. Negotiators attempted to converse with Jason Mack, but Mack refused to engage. Multiple warnings were given, to include K9 warnings, that went unacknowledged.
Once the rest of the occupants exited the home, officers made entry. The entire home was cleared except for the laundry room which had a locked door. The door was breached, and K9 Rylin entered the room. The dog located Jason Mack hiding under a pile of clothes behind the washing machine; Mack was taken into custody without further incident. No physical contact with the suspect was made by K9 Rylin.
Jason Mack was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his three warrants. APD conversed with a Pretrial Officer who stated there was probable cause to charge Mack with Escape III – Electronic Monitor, DV Violate Conditions of Release, and DV Unlawful Contact II. Those additional charges were added.
Vaughan Erickson was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his existing warrant.
Malaika Lafleur was remanded at Hiland Correctional Center on the charge of Hindering Prosecution 1 – Conceal Offender.
