Jeffrey Dixon Charged in Serious Injury DUI Crash
At 1:11 PM on August 19, 2023, a citizen called APD Dispatch to report a black sedan that was being driven erratically and had rear-ended another vehicle. Shortly thereafter several other citizens began calling in to report the same thing.
Officers responded to the intersection of W 40th Avenue and C Street. Through the subsequent investigation it was determined that 56-year-old Jeffrey V. Dixon was driving a 2017 black Ford Mustang northbound on C Street when he struck the back of a 2024 silver Hyundai which had stopped for a red traffic light at 40th. Upon contacting Dixon, officers noticed signs of impairment. After administering Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the decision was made to charge Dixon with Driving Under the Influence. Once at the Anchorage Jail for further processing, Dixon provided a breath sample showing his breath alcohol content was more than two and a half times the legal limit. Dixon was remanded at the Anchorage Jail.
Dixon’s adult male passenger suffered injuries in the crash; he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Due to the seriousness of the passenger’s injuries, Dixon was charged with Assault II in addition to DUI. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.
REDDI – Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately by calling 9-1-1. Anchorage Police are grateful to all the witnesses who called in the crash to Dispatch and to those who stayed at the scene and provided statements to officers.
